Note
"When my grandfather [Wilson] informed him that he would have to get ashore in a small boat at season’s end, he replied in no uncertain terms, that he would not be crossing Lake Superior in a small boat. As a result, he protested by writing letters to officials in Ottawa, and finally, the government agreed to take lightkeepers off by government steamers. To this end, the C.G.S. Lambton was dispatched from Parry Sound to carry out this assignment. Granddad went along as a government representative. Once back in Parry Sound, he submitted a written report that the Lambton was unfit in every way for removing lightkeepers on Lake Superior in December."
